Where to go for support during a mental health crisis

If you or a loved one are experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis, you are not alone. CHI Health provides a range of services to provide safety and stabilization when you need it most.

 

Medical Emergency

If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest Emergency Department.

 

Mental Health or Substance Use Crisis

Call 988 or Go to the Nearest Emergency Department

If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, please go to the nearest emergency department or call 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. They can deploy local resources such as the mobile crisis unit.

  • First responders are trained for mental health and substance use crisis situations
  • You can request a Crisis Intervention Trained officer
  • Omaha Police Department also has peer support specialists who co-respond with law enforcement

Walk In to Lasting Hope Recovery Center in Omaha or Richard Young Behavioral Health in Kearney

Medically stable persons experiencing a mental health crisis can arrive 24/7 at Lasting Hope Recovery Center or Richard Young Behavioral Health for a psychiatric evaluation. If medical treatment is necessary, the staff will facilitate calling emergency transportation.

Call 717-HOPE for Urgent Needs (non-emergency)

The Information and Referral Line, (402) 717-HOPE (4673) is available 24/7 for individuals seeking psychiatric services or information. Our clinical staff will help you identify and access the appropriate psychiatric services.

An initial assessment of the caller's needs will be conducted over the phone and assistance is given to the caller.

  • Thoughts of suicide or self-harm
  • Feeling overwhelmed, hopeless, or unable to cope
