Safety

The Maternity Center at St. Elizabeth has been designated a Safe Sleep Hospital Champion by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. An award that demonstrates our commitment to caring for newborns, and if a high-risk situation arises, the maternal high-risk team and the neonatal intensive care unit have the experience needed to take care of you and your baby.

OB Emergency Department

As another added layer of safety, St. Elizabeth offers board certified Ob-Gyn hospitalists. If your physician is not present when you arrive at Labor and Delivery, our Ob-Gyn hospitalists are available to all expectant mothers 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They can evaluate the progress of your labor, review test results and fetal heart tracings, stay on top of any problems that may be evolving and ensure a safe delivery for you and your baby.

Level III NICU

Our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is designed to promote newborn growth and development.
With a Level III NICU, we offer advanced technology and expert care for the sickest and smallest infants. Our NICU team includes neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists and specially trained nurses who are available 24/7.

Maternal Fetal Medicine

Our maternal fetal medicine specialists are highly trained obstetricians who care for moms and
babies at risk for certain health problems and conditions. They work closely with your
obstetrician or midwife to ensure you and your baby receive the very highest level of care.

Our Women's Health Team

CHI Health St. Elizabeth has an expert team of Women's Health providers at CHI Health Clinic Women's Health (70th and A) and Midwives at CHI Health Clinic Women's Health (Midwifery at the CHI Health Birth Center).

OB/GYN Hospitalists

As another added layer of safety, St. Elizabeth offers board certified OB/GYN hospitalists.  A hospitalist is a physician who specializes in caring for patients in the hospital. If your physician is not present when you arrive at Labor and Delivery, our board-certified OB/GYN hospitalists are available to all expectant mothers 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We are the first in Lincoln to make hospital-based obstetricians, called OB/GYN hospitalists, available to all expectant mothers.

Our OB/GYN hospitalists offer you quality care and peace of mind. If an emergency occurs, the OB/GYN hospitalist can provide expert care for mom and baby while maintaining close communication with you, your family and physician. An OB/GYN Hospitalist can evaluate the progress of your labor, review test results and fetal heart tracings, stay on top of any problems that may be evolving, ensure a safe delivery for you and your baby, and coordinate care with your physician.
