Burn Camp

Due to the ongoing pandemic Burn Camp 2020 has been cancelled.

Burn Camp provides children between the ages of 7 - 18 who have suffered a burn injury an opportunity to become independent, make friends and explore new experiences, while enjoying  the great outdoors. Children will meet others who have similar experiences, feelings, fears and concerns. The camp will be staffed by a nurse from the Saint Elizabeth Regional Burn Center, as well as other health care professionals. 

Camp Activities

  • Canoeing or tubing the North Loup River (7th graders and older)
  • Challenge course
  • Crafts
  • Fishing
  • Hiking - 4 different trails
  • Horseback riding
  • Meeting people with similar experiences
  • Singing and eating great food
  • Star gazing
  • Swimming pool, lake, river
  • Volleyball, basketball
  • Visiting Fort Hartsuff, the Fish Hatchery and the Burwell Rodeo

About Kamp Kaleo

Kamp Kaleo is a year-round camp/conference/retreat center located two miles east of Burwell, Nebraska, on State Highway 91. Kamp Kaleo is over 160 acres of meadows, wetlands and woods with a mile and a quarter river frontage on the North Loup River. Learn more about Kamp Kaleo.


Burn camp is made possible for all children who have suffered a burn injury by generous donations to the St. Elizabeth Foundation.
