St. Elizabeth specializes in the treatment areas of newborn and pediatric care, women’s health, burn and wound, cardiology, oncology, emergency medicine, orthopedics and neuroscience.
Founded over 125 years ago by four sisters from St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration, CHI Health St. Elizabeth has grown into a medical center with 264 all-private, inpatient rooms. Centrally located, St. Elizabeth is one of Lincoln’s largest employers, handling in excess of 34,000 emergency room visits and more than 10,000 surgical procedures annually.
We are dedicated to providing quality, compassionate care to patients and family members while adhering to the core values of reverence, integrity, compassion and excellence. We combine state-of-the-art technology with personalized care to create a welcoming, healing environment. Our purpose goes beyond helping people overcome illness or injury, but rather working to build healthier communities. We partner with local agencies and organizations to strengthen the health care programs offered in the community — giving more people access to care.
St. Elizabeth is part of Catholic Health Initiatives, a national nonprofit health organization with headquarters in Englewood, Colo. It is one of the nation’s largest Catholic health care systems, providing more than $600 million in charity care and community benefit annually.
The Mission of Catholic Health Initiatives is to nurture the healing ministry of the Church, supported by education and research. Fidelity to the Gospel urges us to emphasize human dignity and social justice as we create healthier communities. The core values are reverence, integrity, compassion and excellence.
Spirituality and prayer provide the foundation for the healing work performed at CHI Health St. Elizabeth. The Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration began a tradition of Catholic care when they opened Lincoln’s first hospital in 1889. Today’s healing environment and compassionate staff address each patient’s spiritual and emotional needs as well as physical needs. Pastoral Care services are also available upon request around the clock to help meet the spiritual needs of patients and their loved ones.
