How to Set Up a Personal Zoom Account

We encourage family and friends to stay in touch with patients via Zoom. Please let the care team know if your loved one needs assistance setting up Zoom while in the hospital.

Family members and friends can be very helpful in a patient’s recovery, however patient care is our primary concern at CHI Health Good Samaritan. To enhance the quality of care, general guidelines have been established for visitors. Some specialized areas may have more specific rules. If you are unsure, please ask a staff member.

Protecting Patients Against Infection 

Visitors spreading infection poses a serious health risk to our patients. DO NOT visit if you are sick–especially if you are sneezing or have the following flu symptoms: fever, headache, tiredness, cough, sore throat or nasal congestion. At times, a patient may need to be placed in isolation to prevent passing an infection from one patient to another. You may be asked to wear a mask, gown or gloves, or perhaps all of these items when visiting.

When visiting the hospital, please:

  • Either wash your hands with soap and warm water or use sanitizing hand gel before and after you visit a patient room. 
  • Use a tissue when you cough or sneeze and immediately drop it in the trash. If you don’t  have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve, not your hands. Always clean your hands after you cough, sneeze or blow your nose.
  • Do not use the restrooms in patient rooms. 

Visiting Guidelines

  • Ask our nursing staff if your loved one is receiving visitors and his/her visiting hours.
  • Keep your visit short and positive, respecting other patients’ privacy.  
  • Limit visitation to two visitors at one time. 
  • Do not smoke or use chewing tobacco. Our entire hospital campus is tobacco-free. 
  • To protect patient privacy and recovery, visitors may be asked to leave the room.
  • Children should only visit in appropriate situations and when accompanied by an adult. 
  • Good Samaritan does not provide childcare services for visitors.
  • Visitors should enter the hospital through the main entrance (which closes at 9 p.m.) or West Tower (which closes at 8:30 p.m.). After hours, the only open entrance is the 
  • Emergency entrance on the east side of the hospital. Please obtain a special visitor’s pass from the nurses station if you will be in the hospital after hours.
  • Some gifts like fresh or dried flowers, foods and drinks can be counter-productive to  recovery.
  • Latex balloons are never allowed. Please check with the nurse to make sure your gift is appropriate.

Calling a Patient Room

Outside callers can reach most patient rooms by dialing (308) 865 CARE and entering the 4-digit room number.Finding Your Way 

To help you find your way we have a greeter at our main entrance, volunteer staffed information desks with visitor maps, and signage throughout our hospital. In addition, all our patient rooms have 4-digit numbers. The first digit indicates the building; West Tower is“6” and the main hospital is “3.”?The second digit indicates the floor. (Example: Room 3250 is in the main hospital “3” on the second floor “2” in room 3250.) If you become lost or would like help to your desired location, just ask any staff member.

Cell Phones

Cell phone use is allowed at Good Samaritan unless specifically noted by signage. Please be considerate of others and respect patient confidentiality when using your cell phone.

Internet Kiosks and Wireless Internet

Free Web sites like caringbridge.org allow loved ones to stay connected and abreast of a patient’s condition. Several computer stations with Internet access are available throughout our hospital (i.e. Conference Center, Healthy Living Center, West Tower hallway) for guests. Wireless Internet is also freely available on all inpatient floors, the Surgery waiting room, main lobby and Healthy Living Center. Your laptop must have wireless Internet capabilities, and be running Windows XP, Windows Vista, MAC OSX, or Windows 2000 with client software and DHCP. If your laptop is set to detect available wireless networks, it will pick up the “GSH” SSID and should ask if you want to connect. If your laptop is not set to detect available wireless networks, you will need to manually configure your laptop’s SSID to “GSH” with no added security.

Cafeteria-bas­ement off main elevators

Our cafeteria is open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., and 11:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. VISA and MasterCard are accepted. Receipts for food purchases are available upon request. A variety of fresh baked pizzas are offered for delivery weekdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Call 7500 from any hospital phone to order.

Coffee Cart-main entrance lobby 

Our gourmet coffee cart, Espresso PRN, is open weekdays from 6:30 a.m. to noon and 12:30 to 2 p.m. It offers a variety of hot or cold espresso drinks made with steamed milk and flavored syrups. Decaffeinated and sugar-free drinks are available.

Gift Shop-main entrance lobby 

The Sure Cure Gift Shop offers gift items, jewelry, magazines, paperback books, greeting cards, candy, toiletries and flowers. It is open Monday-Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Wellness/Fitness Center-Medical Office Building-Lower Level 

Adult family members of current hospital patients may use our Wellness/Fitness Center for a small fee per visit.
