Emergency Medicine

Good Samaritan which first opened its doors to the people of central Nebraska and northern Kansas in 1924 is a 287-bed regional referral center.  As a member of Catholic Health Initiatives, one of the largest health providers in the country, we seek to provide quality state-of the-art specialty care in response to the needs of more than 320,000 people we serve.

Good Samaritan has an opening for an Emergency Medicine trained physician to join the existing four physicians staffing the hospital's Emergency Department. 

About the ED at Good Samaritan:

  • 12,500 visits annually (23% admission rate)
  • 1/4 of admission are pediatrics
  • 10-bed Emergency Department in a 287-bed, Level II Trauma Center
  • Accredited Chest Pain Center
  • Physician staffed in 12-hour shifts
  • Access to more than 30 different specialties including radiology, pathology, neurology, cardiology, neurosurgery, cardiothoracic surgery, general surgery, orthopedic surgery, gastroenterology, pulmonary, urology, and otolaryngology, to mention a few
  • AirCare Helicopter program and 911 service are hospital-based
  • Long Distance Ambulance Service provides BLS, ALS, and critical care ground transport capabilities with bases in Kearney and McCook

Position Requirements and Benefits

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine
  • Current ATLS and ACLS certification
