Education Opportunities for Nurses
Educational opportunities abound for nurses at Good Samaritan. Whether it's a refresher course in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, or a noon conference focusing on the importance of organ donation, Good Samaritan nurses are constantly presented with opportunities to further their care delivery education.
Education is the first item of business for all employees at Good Samaritan. While new employee orientation is a mainstay in healthcare facilities, Good Samaritan has created a unique orientation program specifically designed for nurses that eases them into their new position. Nursing orientation includes a human resources component, a general nursing component and a preceptor-based orientation specific to the needs of the new nurse that also recognizes their strengths. It's a successful orientation program that is very well tailored to the needs of individuals who start here at Good Samaritan.
Kearney offers advanced nursing education options through a unique partnership between the University of Nebraska Medical Center and the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Individuals are able to complete or further their nursing courses of study through the UNMC-Kearney Division college of nursing program. Good Samaritan serves as an excellent location for nursing internships with this program, and is an ideal employment location for current nurses who may wish to further their education.
Education is a valued resource at Good Samaritan, and its pursuit is encouraged through employment benefits. The tuition reimbursement for nurses at GSHS is up to $1,000 per year for all nursing staff.
