Hybrid OR
The Hybrid OR, located at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy in Omaha, is the most advanced endovascular surgical suite and leverages multi-disciplinary resources to deliver both catheterization lab privileges and operating room facility to do less invasive surgeries and simultaneous coronary intervention. This results in shorter hospital stays, faster recoveries and better outcomes.
Increased Efficiency
The Hybrid OR is at the forefront of operating room technology, housing all the equipment and monitoring devices necessary to perform multiple cardiovascular surgeries at the same time. This can mean that a patient needing open heart surgery – such as a cardiac bypass, and less invasive coronary interventions, such as angioplasty and stent placement or a valve procedure – can have both procedures done during the same operation.
Easier for Patients
Because two procedures are performed in one room, it saves the patient from undergoing separate procedures on different days, and the accompanying preparation and anesthesia. It can reduce patient stress and cut a hospital stay by two to three days.
Increased Safety
The Hybrid OR provides another layer of patient safety for minimally invasive, yet complicated procedures that may require surgical access in case of complications. And because the patient remains in a sterile field for both procedures, there is less chance of infection.
