Heart Education Classes

CHI Health Heart Care classes are designed to reduce heart and vascular disease risk by helping individuals make lifestyle changes and to improve the lives of those already been affected by heart disease and stroke. All programs are presented by healthcare professionals who are certified in their respective fields.

Heart Care Support Group

You can live a full and happy life with your internal cardiac defibrillator (ICD), and our health experts will show you how. This support group provides education about ICDs and an opportunity for patients and caregivers to share their experiences with others who are dealing with similar feelings and concerns. Heart Failure Academy

This two-hour, educational class empowers you to make heart healthy lifestyle changes. Taught by our heart failure experts, you will learn how you can feel better and live longer with proper nutrition, exercise, health goals, medications and more. Free. Open to anyone diagnosed with heart failure, their family and coach. Classes offered weekly at CHI Health Nebraska Heart. Please call (402) 219-7709 for class times and registration. Heart Healthy Cooking Classes

Healthy foods can taste delicious! Join us for our Heart Healthy Cooking Classes and learn from local professional chefs as they demonstrate new recipes and cooking techniques that add flavor and variety to your menus. Classes are held at CHI Health Lakeside.

Heartsaver CPR AED

Heartsaver CPR AED is specifically designed for the layperson rescuer who needs to know CPR for occupational safety purposes and for those providing child or foster care, etc. It is not intended for health care professionals. Check for class availability online.

Lifesaver Parties

Lifesaver parties are a fun, and free, way for you, your friends, family, co-workers, etc. to learn the skills you need to save a life. Our health experts come to your worksite, place of worship, daycare or meeting room, etc. - or you can hold your class in an CHI Health hospital conference room. Our American Heart Association-certified instructors teach adult and child CPR, how to unblock an obstructed airway, and demonstrate how to operate an automated external defibrillator (AED). Most classes are scheduled from 6 - 7:30 p.m. No classes are held on Friday, Saturday, or Sundays.

Tobacco Cessation

Quitting tobacco is one of the single best things you can do for your health. CHI offers help with tobacco cessation. Meet with a trained tobacco specialist to develop a personalized quit plan based on your smoking history, smoking triggers and previous quit attempts.
