Gangadasu Reddy, MBBS, MS, FACS is a faculty member and surgeon at Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy, Omaha, Nebraska. He completed general surgery and plastic surgery training at Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York. Thereafter, he went to complete two different fellowships at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center/Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas. One of the fellowships was in Breast and Reconstructive Microsurgery and the other was in Hand and Wrist Surgery. He joined Creighton University in July 2014.
Dr. Reddy is board certified in these three areas:
He is one of the very few Plastic Surgeons in the country with his level of broad and in-depth training.
About microsurgical breast reconstruction:
Being board certified in Plastic and Reconstructive surgery with additional fellowship training in breast microsurgery, Dr. Reddy offers all kinds of breast reconstructive procedures to his patients. At the initial consultation, he goes over the advantages and disadvantages of all the breast reconstructive procedures. He performs both prosthetic (tissue expander/implant) based reconstructions and flap procedures. He understands that choosing a right reconstructive procedure involves assimilating lots of information before making any surgical decisions. He will guide you through the decision-making process and will work with you to fulfill your goals.
Currently, he is the only breast microsurgery fellowship trained Plastic Surgeon in the Omaha metro area to provide state-of-the art reconstructive procedure for women needing breast reconstruction after mastectomy (removal of breast tissue) for breast cancer. The microsurgical procedure he performs is called a DIEP (Deep Inferior Epigastric Perforator) flap. He uses the patient’s own lower abdominal excessive skin and fat without sacrificing any muscle to reconstruct a breast. It has a very high success rate. Dr. Reddy says that any insurance carrier that covers treatment for breast cancer is federally mandated to cover DIEP procedure. His experienced office staff will work with your insurance carrier and get pre-authorization for these procedures.
DIEP is currently the most commonly performed flap procedure for breast reconstruction across the country. The majority of women in Nebraska who are opting for this procedure are currently leaving the state for their reconstructive needs. Dr. Reddy started performing these procedures in Omaha in 2016.
