Is Your Biological Clock Ticking?
Putting off having kids for careers or life plans isn’t anything new. But as hard as it is to hear, there is an ideal window for getting pregnant. Medically speaking, the best age to conceive a child is between 20 and 35. That’s when a woman is most fertile and less likely to have complications.
A woman is born with 1 to 2 million eggs. By the time she hits puberty, the count drops to around 300,000 eggs, and only 500 will be ovulated during the reproductive years.
So when is the right time to have a baby? That’s a very personal decision. But know your numbers. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Survey of Family Growth found 44 percent of those needing reproductive assistance are now younger than 35.
