CHI Health Nebraska Heart Achieves 5-Star Rating

January 12, 2018

It is with great pride and enthusiasm that we share with you, CHI Health Nebraska Heart received a 5-Star Overall Hospital Rating, the highest possible, from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for the quality of our care. Only 337 hospitals nationwide received a 5-Star CMS Hospital Compare rating. Nebraska Heart is proud to be among the top 10% of hospitals in the nation to achieve the highest quality rating for their stellar heart care.

The Overall Hospital Rating is based on hospital inpatient and outpatient quality program data. Hospitals are rated on up to 57 quality measures including cardiac surgery, treatment of heart failure, treatment of stroke and many others. These measures fall into seven categories: mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience, effectiveness of care, timeliness of care and efficient use of medical imaging. The overall hospital rating is calculated using a summary score from these categories. CMS provides this search tool to look up hospitals in every market.

CMS introduced its Hospital Compare rating system in July 2016 and Nebraska Heart hospital was among the top in the nation with a five-star rating at that time. The passion, expertise, dedication and compassionate care of Nebraska Heart providers and staff are reflected in the outcomes for their patients and the smiles witnessed as they return to living life to its fullest with their family and friends.

Please join us in congratulating the entire Nebraska Heart team for receiving the CMS 5-Star Overall Hospital Rating recognition!
