Johnsen to Chair St. Francis Foundation Board for 2017-18

The St. Francis Foundation Board has elected Jeremiah Johnsen as chair, Nick Suminski, as vice-chair and Micki Ward as secretary/treasurer for 2017-2018.
Johnsen is the clinic director at Excel Physical Therapy in Grand Island. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree from The University of Nebraska Omaha in 2003 and went on to earn his Masters of Physical Therapy degree at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, in October of 2005.
Johnsen is the current president of the Grand Island Sunrise Rotary Club and was a six-year board member for the Central Plains Chapter of the American Red Cross where he served on the Executive Council. He also helps coach basketball and softball for several youth programs. Johnsen and his wife, Karen, have three children.
Suminski is the president and owner of Paul Davis Restoration of Central Nebraska. He graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a bachelor’s degree in Architectural Studies. He and his wife, Shelley, have two children.
Ward is employed at Essential Personnel in marketing and communications. Previously, she served as the marketing coordinator at the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce and general manager at Signs Now in Lincoln.
Ward is a Class 22 Leadership Tomorrow graduate, was named Grand Island Chamber of Commerce Top 35 Under 35 in 2012 and served as Principal for a Day in 2007. She is also a volunteer coach for YMCA volleyball and previously coached ABCDD softball.
Ward is a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Newell PTA and has served as a Chamber connector. She received a bachelor degree in business from the University of Nebraska-Omaha and an associate degree in media arts from Central Community College in Hastings.
Ward and her husband, Jim, have three children and are proud residents of Grand Island. She has a great willingness to continue efforts to enrich and grow the community’s core strengths.
Three new board members have been approved for 2017-2018 They are: Fritz Anderson, Mary Santin and Matt Myers.
