CHI Health Nebraska Heart Welcomes New Physicians

Six experienced doctors bring experience and expertise to premier medical team.
With a continued mission of providing elite cardiology and vascular care to Nebraskans and surrounding communities, CHI Health Nebraska Heart announces the addition of six new physicians to its robust medical team. The hospital welcomes four cardiologists and two surgeons who bring years of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac, vascular and thoracic disease.
Dr. Ram Belbase, a native of Nepal, brings more than 10 years of family medicine, internal medicine and cardiology experience to Nebraska Heart. As an interventional cardiologist, he specializes in cardiology care for patients and enjoys educational opportunities to teach new physicians skills as they begin their careers. Dr. Belbase and his family look forward to living in Lincoln and cheering on the Huskers.
Dr. Tim Gardner, interventional cardiologist, has cared for patients in Lincoln and throughout Nebraska for more than a decade. His expertise includes both heart and vascular care, which includes veins critical to the body’s health. He looks forward to continuing to build relationships with patients and their families throughout the region.
Dr. Omar Nass returned to the Nebraska Heart medical staff this summer. As a cardiologist who specializes in imaging, he’s eager to continue caring for patients with complex structural heart disease. To help keep patients close to home, Dr. Nass looks forward to providing care in communities throughout the state.
Dr. Lakshminarayan Yerra, invasive cardiologist, remains in the CHI Health family, coming to Nebraska Heart from Good Samaritan in Kearney. His primary focus is prevention, diagnosis and treatment of heart disease. Dr. Yerra, and his wife, Dr. Anuradha Tunuguntla, who is also an interventional cardiologist at Nebraska Heart, are thrilled to be a part of Lincoln’s medical community.
Dr. Thomas Kleisli, cardiothoracic surgeon, comes to Nebraska Heart from Los Angeles, California. He is in his fourth year of clinical practice, with an expertise in adult cardiac and thoracic surgical disease. Dr. Kleisli has a special interest in valvular pathology and heart failure. He grew up in Switzerland and is excited to now call Lincoln home. He looks forward to seeing patients at Nebraska Heart.
Dr. Ashley Fratello, cardiothoracic surgeon, joins Nebraska Heart from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. She has extensive training in cardiac and thoracic surgical disease, with a specific interest in aortic pathology and advanced, minimally invasive techniques for treating atrial fibrillation. Dr. Fratello enjoys traveling, cooking and running with her dogs.
With the addition of these physicians, Nebraska Heart remains the premier heart hospital in Nebraska, with the largest staff of experienced professionals in the region. These cardiologists and surgeons join a team of 26 physicians, made up of cardiologists, surgeons and anesthesiologists who serve as innovators and influencers in the future of the community’s health care.
