Extended Internship

Eight Month Extended Internship

The Eight-Month Accelerated Extended Internship is a part-time program that is offered in Omaha.  It is primarily designed for clergy and qualified lay persons seeking professional education for ministry with people in crisis. Participants who successfully complete the internship receive 1.0 unit of CPE based on their previous experience with CPE.

Meeting Times & Location

  • 6 hour group instruction, every other Monday, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
  • 1-hour individual supervision every other week
  • Meets at CHI Health McAuley Fogelstrom Center, Omaha NE

 

Program Learning and Service Expectations

  • Active participation in all group and individual educational experiences
  • Completion of all written assignments including reflection papers, verbatim reports and self-evaluations
  • Provide 8 hours per week of pastoral ministry
  • Clinical placement agreement (for non-CommonSpirit Health facilities)
  • Chaplain Mentor at your placement site
  • Provide 50 hours of on-call coverage
  • Extended Interns do not receive a stipend

Admission Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Computer literacy
  • Complete ACPE application
  • English Language Proficiency
  • Admission Interview (on-site or via video conference)

*Priority admission for CHI Health and CommonSpirit Health chaplains who live greater than 60 miles from Omaha

Fees and Tuition*

  • $25 Nonrefundable application fee
  • $650 Tuition for CHI Health employees
  • $1000 Tuition for Non-CHI Health employees serving CHI Health clinical placement sites
  • $1250 Tuition for Non-CHI Health employees serving Non-CHI Health clinical placement sites
  • Participants are responsible for costs associated with immunizations, drug screen and a criminal background check
