The Mercy Heritage Awards was celebrated on Thurs., Sept. 8, 2022, at a new location, the Hoff Family Arts & Culture Center, home of Pottawattamie Arts, Culture & Entertainment (PACE). John and Erica Bracker chaired the event with Barry Cleaveland.
With over 400 guests in attendance, the southwest Iowa community honored Jerry Mathiasen, Arts & Humanities; Larry Winum, Business; Martha Bruckner, Education; and Marie Knedler, Health & Human Services. Watch the videos of the award recipients.
“This was such a special evening for our entire team and me to - finally - recognize our recipients. Each of you embodies the best in leadership and inspires the rest of us by your selfless acts or service,” said Ann Schumacher, president of CHI Health Mercy Council Bluffs.
“These four individuals have truly transformed southwest Iowa with their work.”
Under their leadership, we saw the creation of the Pottawattamie County Community Foundation (now known as Community Foundation for Western Iowa), Pottawattamie Gives!, the Highway 34 bridge, On With Life Neurological Rehab Facility, International Baccalaureate school programs in our elementary and middle schools, the designation of Council Bluffs as an All-America City, the Mental Health and Substance Abuse Coalition, and the AllCare Health Center.
