CHI Health Care departments are equipped to treat critical illnesses and serious injuries. Conveniently located throughout Omaha, Council Bluffs and in Papillion, our Emergency Rooms (ERs) are staffed by physicians who specialize in emergency medicine and nurses who are specially trained to treat emergency cases. All six metro Emergency Care departments are staffed 24 hours a day and have accredited Chest Pain and Stroke Centers. Our accreditation in Chest Pain and Stroke means that our staff is specially trained to quickly diagnose and treat chest pain and strokes, allowing patients to quickly receive the level of care that is most appropriate for their condition.
Creighton University Medical Center (CUMC)'s Level I Trauma Center provides the highest level of trauma, surgical and critical care. Our team of nationally and internationally respected experts stands ready to take care of patients with traumatic injuries 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Creighton University Medical Center was the second hospital in the U.S. and is the only hospital in the region recognized by the Joint Commission for its management of orthopedic trauma. CUMC earned the Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval by demonstrating compliance with the commission's national standards for healthcare quality and safety orthopedic trauma care. The Trauma Center staff also is trained specifically in the care of the orthopedic trauma patients.

An accredited Chest Pain Center is located within the emergency departments of five CHI Health metro hospitals. The accreditation by the Society of Chest Pain Centers is awarded to hospitals demonstrating expertise and commitment to quality patient care and treatment of chest pain.
This center serves as a triage point to quickly diagnose and treat chest pain, allowing patients to receive the level of care that is most appropriate for their condition.

As Certified Primary Stroke Centers, six metro CHI Health Hospitals follow nationally recognized standards and guidelines for stroke care, which can significantly improve patient outcomes and limit the long-term effects of the illness. Comprehensive stroke services include specialized emergency and inpatient care, physical rehabilitation and comprehensive outpatient therapy.
