Over the first few years your child will have a series of what are called well visits. At those visits, your doctor will check how your baby is growing and developing. The first visit is usually a few weeks after getting out of the hospital. The next is at 2 months, 4months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 15 months, 18 months, and 2 years old. Usually at this point your doctor will switch to every year.

At these visits your doctor will measure how much the baby weighs, how long the baby is and what your child’s head circumference is. We will also talk about how your baby is developing and whether your child is meeting developmental milestones. Your doctor will give you a list of questions to answer. At 12 months your doctor will do a screening hemoglobin and a screening lead level which require a small finger poke. At 18 to 24 months, we will have parents fill out a form to screen for autism. At almost all of the well visits vaccines will be administered.
