Virtual Care - CHI Health, Nebraska (NE) - Southwest Iowa (IA)

Virtual Care is a virtual health service for those times when you don't need an emergency room and your physician's office is closed.

Virtual house call 24/7 Without Leaving Home

You can talk to a doctor or nurse practitioner by phone or computer. The service is for minor medical problems and is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

For some reason we always seem to get sick on weekends, after hours, or right before vacation. Now, there’s help available for those minor medical problems 24 hours a day 7 days a week. All you need is a phone or a computer.

Staffed by Medical Professionals

Virtual care is care when you need it. The service is staffed by medical professionals who can diagnose patients in the comfort of their own home.

CHI Health Virtual Care is the only health system in the region offering virtual care. Patients with sore throats, rashes, urinary tract infections – everyday problems can call in or log on to talk with a doctor or nurse practitioner.

Virtual Care patient,Kristen Blum checked in on a Sunday night – she didn’t feel quite right. Within minutes she had an answer.

“It was at night I didn’t want to go to the ED and I knew I didn’t need to go to the ED. Virtual care turned out to be the right thing and it worked for me,” said Blum.

Virtual care is not for emergencies, like chest pain or shortness of breath and it doesn’t replace your primary care physician. It does provide you another level of care – a safe alternative. No appointment necessary.

“Part of the art of medicine is being able to make an appropriate diagnosis just based on a history and talking to the patient. Our visits last about 20 minutes. So we have time to get to know that patient we get to know the symptoms and explore what’s going on. If we are not confident in our diagnosis we will send to the appropriate facility,” said Dr. Ben Green.

Prescriptions if You Need Them

Virtual care is available for the entire family. Health professionals can prescribe medication but often what they’re really dispensing is peace of mind on weekends, after hours or right before vacation.
