Stephen Lanspa, MD
President, CHI Health Clinic
Stephen Lanspa, MD, has been serving as president for CHI Health Clinic since May 2015. In this role he leads a multi-specialty group of nearly 600 physicians and advanced practice clinicians caring for patients in more than 80 locations throughout Nebraska and southwest Iowa.
He currently serves as one of six divisional representatives on CHI’s Medical Group Leadership Council which provides oversight of all employed physician practices. Dr. Lanspa also serves as a professor of medicine at Creighton University School of Medicine (CUSOM) and is the current senior associate dean for Clinical Affairs. He also plays an integral role as chairman of the Board for UniNet.
Dr. Lanspa went to medical school at Creighton University and served as internal medicine resident at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Minnesota. He was also a gastroenterology (GI) fellow and National Institutes of Health (NIH) research fellow with Mayo Clinic. He remains committed to his clinical practice as a gastroenterologist and continues to see patients on a limited basis. He is the program director for GI fellowships at CUSOM and remains active in teaching and research.
In addition to his medical education, Dr. Lanspa also holds a master’s degree in medical management from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His past leadership roles include: president of the Creighton University Medical Center Medical Staff, senior vice president for medical affairs and president of Creighton Medical Associates.
