A: We recommend walking with a friend or groups, if possible. Water bottle, headphones? Music on your phone? Bug spray. Sunscreen or sunblock. We do not recommend walking at night; however, if you do, wear bright clothes or a reflective vest and bring a flashlight with fresh batteries. Bring a fully charged cell phone to use for maps or if you need help. Be safe!
Q: How can I keep track of my mileage during Sidewalk Marathon?
A: First, please download our printable walking log to keep track of your miles. You can use your Fitbit or you can count steps. Depending on your stride, the average person will take over 2,000 steps to walk one mile – so 2,000 – 2,500 should get you to a mile. Once you reach the 26.2 mile goal, make sure you post a photo on social media using #SidewalkMarathon.
