Q: If I cannot attend the kickoff event, can I still participate in the Sidewalk Marathon?
A: Of course, you can! You can walk at any time during this 30-day walking program. Just register online. Also, don't miss out on the weekly Facebook Live Q&A sessions on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. (9/19, 9/26, 10/3, and 10/10).
Q: I was unable to attend the kick off or got a later start to the #SidewalkMarathon program. Can I still get a goody bag?
A: Good news--we have extras! And while supplies last, we're giving them out--for free! Stop by the following locations to get your welcome-to-the-program bag, which includes a physical personal planner, bumper sticker and more.
Omaha: McAuley Folgestrom Center front desk, 12809 West Dodge Road. Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Lincoln: St Elizabeth Hospital front desk, 555 S 70th St, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Kearney: Good Samaritan Hospital main lobby gift shop, 10 E. 31st Street. Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m to 6 p.m.- AND-

Q: Do you recommend a place to walk?
A: Yes! Check out the trails in Nebraska and Iowa. Have fun!
Q: What should I take with me when I go walking?
A: We recommend walking with a friend or groups, if possible. Water bottle, headphones? Music on your phone? Bug spray. Sunscreen or sunblock. We do not recommend walking at night; however, if you do, wear bright clothes or a reflective vest and bring a flashlight with fresh batteries. Bring a fully charged cell phone to use for maps or if you need help. Be safe!
Q: How can I keep track of my mileage during Sidewalk Marathon?
A: First, please download our guidebook that contains a printable walking log to keep track of your miles. You can use your Fitbit or you can count steps. Depending on your stride, the average person will take over 2,000 steps to walk one mile – so 2,000 – 2,500 should get you to a mile. Once you reach the 26.2 mile goal, make sure you post a photo on social media using #SidewalkMarathon.

Q: When does the walking program end?
A: The final day of this program is 30 days from when you started. So approximately October 17 or October 18. But feel free to keep up the momentum and keep walking!
