What is the Heart Valve Clinic?

Led by the expert cardiologists from CHI Health Clinic Heart & Vascular Specialists, the multi-disciplinary Heart Valve Clinic provides several treatment options for patients with complex diseases of the cardiac valves.

  • Hybrid procedure (minimally invasive valve surgery with simultaneous percutaneous intervention)
  • Balloon Valvuloplasty
  • Percutaneous Mitral Valve Repair
  • Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)

  • Balloon Valvuloplasty
  • Left Atrial Appendage Ligation/Closure

The Clinic also maintains a robust clinical database of complex valve disorders to support research and advances in the treatment of cardiac valve disease.

Who should be referred to the Heart Valve Clinic?

New treatments are now available at the Valve Clinic for patients previously thought to be untreatable:

  • Complex valve disease including:
    • Aortic stenosis
    • Mitral stenosis
    • Mitral regurgitation
    • Pulmonary stenosis
  • For patients with co-morbidities and patients who have had multiple procedures and are not good surgical candidates 

Percutaneous treatment for Atrial Septal Defect, Patent Foramen Ovale and Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy is also available.

What type of follow-up can I expect?

The referring physician will receive thorough follow-up including:

  • Test results via phone and mail
  • Collaboration on development of a care plan for the patient.
