CHI Health Heart Care classes are designed to reduce heart and vascular disease risk by helping individuals make lifestyle changes and to improve the lives of those already been affected by heart disease and stroke. All programs are presented by healthcare professionals who are certified in their respective fields.
Heart Care Support Group
You can live a full and happy life with your internal cardiac defibrillator (ICD), and our health experts will show you how. This support group provides education about ICDs and an opportunity for patients and caregivers to share their experiences with others who are dealing with similar feelings and concerns. Heart Healthy Cooking Classes
Healthy foods can taste delicious! Learn from local professional chefs as they demonstrate new recipes and cooking techniques that add flavor and variety to your menus.Classes are held at CHI Health Lakeside.
Heartsaver CPR AED
This class is specifically designed for the layperson rescuer who needs to know CPR for occupational safety purposes and for those providing child or foster care, etc. It is not intended for health care professionals. Register Online.
Heart & Sole Walking Program
The Heart & Sole Walking Program is a safe, convenient and fun way to exercise. The program is held at malls and administered by a exercise physiologist who gives you professional guidance on your walking program. The more you walk the more prizes you can win, too.
Lifesaver parties are a fun, and free, way for you, your friends, family, co-workers, etc. to learn the skills you need to save a life. Our health experts come to your worksite, place of worship, daycare or meeting room, etc. - or you can hold your class in an CHI Health hospital conference room. Our American Heart Association-certified instructors teach adult and child CPR, how to unblock an obstructed airway, and demonstrate how to operate an automated external defibrillator (AED).
Partners in Cardiology
Partners in Cardiology (PIC) is a cardiovascular disease prevention program designed to help you eat healthy, manage stress and include exercise as part of your daily routine. The goal of the program is to prevent cardiovascular disease through the reduction of risk factors including high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, smoking, physical inactivity and obesity. The program is held at The Cardiac Center, 3006 Webster St, Omaha, NE (just northwest of CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center.) Plenty of free parking is available. Commit to Quit Tobacco Cessation
Commit to Quit is an eight-week class that helps you quit tobacco, for good. During each class, members discuss issues important to them and learn from each other’s experiences. Classes focus on a variety of topics, including:
- preparing for change
- identifying triggers
- coping techniques
- stress management
