Senior Vice President & Chief Operations Officer
Joan Neuhaus, senior vice president & chief operations officer for CHI Health, previously held the same role for the former CHI Health from 2009-2014. She is responsible for operations within all CHI Health hospitals and facilities, including five metropolitan acute care hospitals, four regional hospitals, two long-term care facilities and one freestanding psychiatric facility. Ms. Neuhaus, who has been with the organization since 1986, previously held positions including vice president of women’s & children’s services and vice president for strategic planning & marketing. Ms. Neuhaus obtained her master’s degree in Business Administration from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, and a master of arts in Executive Leadership from the University of Nebraska.
Ms. Neuhaus has been heavily involved in the community, including the Board of Directors for March of Dimes, Catholic Charities and Marian High School, a member and chair of Nebraska Women’s Health Advisory Council, and as a member of the Jesuit Partnership Council, Leadership Omaha, and the Creighton University College of Business Administration Advisory Council.
Joan is a results-oriented, accomplished health system executive with a broad background in healthcare business, strategy development and market performance. She has extensive experience leading people, building high performance teams and developing productive physician relationships. This has been seen in both the creation of Alegent Health in 1996 and the 2012 formation of a strategic affiliation with Creighton University that resulted in the acquisition of Creighton University Medical Center (CUMC) and Creighton Medical Associates (CMA). Ms. Neuhaus was responsible for all acute, ambulatory, post-acute and service line operations for the former Alegent Creighton Health, its 1,798 licensed beds and more than 5,000 employees.
Ms. Neuhaus received her undergraduate degree and MBA from Creighton University. She went on to earn a master’s degree in Business/Executive Leadership from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
