Article Date: Jun 13, 2017

The Level I Trauma Center at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy (CUMC - Bergan) provides the best medical care - fast - so that you survive a life-threatening injury. The entire trauma team stands by ready for the worst injuries, 24/7.

Learn more about our Comprehensive Trauma Center at a symposium featuring trauma surgeons and nurses who are world-renowned, as well as patients who would have died without specialized trauma expertise.

Symposium subjects include emerging technologies, managing burn patients, tourniquet use and psychological effects on patients and families.

Former trauma patients and family members will join the symposium for a luncheon. They include a farmer who lost an arm in a chopper, a flight nurse involved in a motorcycle accident who almost bled to death, and a young woman who was shot and left for dead by her attackers. A person with the injuries she had ordinarily has about a 5% chance of surviving. All credit the trauma team with saving their lives.
