CHI Health Midlands 26th in national ranking

Article Date: Feb 11, 2015

Below is a story that ran in the Papillion Times featuring Dr. Jeffry Strohmyer on patient experience and safety at CHI Health Midlands.

Consumer Reports magazine recently ranked hospitals nationwide in patient experience and safety, and CHI Health Midlands Hospital in Papillion was ranked 26th out of 2,591 hospitals. It was the only Nebraska hospital ranked in the top 30.

Consumer Reports conducted a survey that found a link between respectful treatment and patient safety, basing their rankings on these findings. Safety scores factored in mortality rates, infection rates and hospital readmissions. Patient experience scores include doctor-patient and nurse-patient communication, clarity of discharge instructions and the patient’s overall impression of the hospital. CHI Health Midlands received a score of 61, with the highest-scoring hospital receiving a 77.

Dr. Jeffry Strohmyer, chief medical officer at CHI Health Midlands, said hospital safety and patient experience are a high priority at the hospital.
