Why did you become a Research Coordinator and what keeps you here? I had worked in dialysis for almost 10 years when I was asked to join the Creighton Nephrology clinic to assist in the research department.  After working in both hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis it was the smart choice to take the knowledge of chronic kidney disease and apply it to clinical trials.  I have been in research ever since.  The education given for the pre dialysis patients is what keeps me here in this area.

Year you began working in Research: 2007
Specialty (ies): Women’s Health & Gastroenterology
Current CHI Providers you work with on Research Studies: John Cote, Ann Sullivan, Erin Talaska, Erin Jenkins, Bob Kizer
Why did you become a Research Coordinator and what keeps you here? I was offered a position in research as an assistant, helping with all medical/clinical aspects. Shortly after learning the ropes, I was offered a coordinator position. I enjoy the relationships, not only with my coworkers and PI’s I’ve worked with over the past 8 years, but the connection I’ve made with my research patients. You work together so often, that you start to build a strong relationship getting to know one another on a more personal level. That connection is very important to me. To help my patients find a potential positive outcome to their diagnosis is the most rewarding feeling of all.

Why did you become a Research Coordinator and what keeps you here? While working as a dialysis nurse, a Creighton Nephrologist asked if I would be interested in helping support Nephrology research.  I thought it would be great to be able to have more time to educate patients and also be able to find new medications that had the potential of improving the dialysis patient’s quality of life. What keeps me here is the ability to continue to care for the nephrology patients that I have cared for the last 20 years!
