Dr. Michael Hovey

Dr. Michael Hovey performs adjustable gastric banding, Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery and the sleeve gastrectomy.

Dr. Hovey was born and raised in Iowa. He obtained his medical doctor degree University of Iowa in 1997 and completed his residency from Iowa Methodist Medical Center in 2004. His medical training includes an internship at Creighton University in 1998 and then he entered the United States Air Force in Flight Medicine until 2000.

Prior to coming to CHI Health Immanuel, Dr. Hovey worked at Central Iowa Veterans Hospital in Des Moines and was a Staff Surgeon in the United States Air Force.

Dr. Kalyana Nandipati

Dr. Kalyana C. Nandipati is specially trained in foregut and bariatric surgery, general surgery, minimally invasive solid organ surgery (adrenals, spleen and pancreas) and gastrointestinal laparoscopic procedures. He also has expertise in single incision laparoscopic procedures (SILS).

He completed fellowship training at Emory University in Minimally Invasive Surgery and Bariatric Surgery. Dr. Nanidipati has co-authored nearly 75 peer-reviewed articles and abstracts on a variety of subjects, and also written several textbook chapters including in the field of bariatric surgery, reflux disease and more.

Dr. Thomas White

Dr. Thomas White performs adjustable gastric banding, Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery and the sleeve gastrectomy.

Dr. White was born and raised in Milford Nebraska. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1986.

His medical training includes a medical doctor degree from the University Of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. After graduating from medical school in 1990, Dr. White completed a general surgery residency in 1995.
