When the doctor’s offices close, Alegent Health AfterOurs Urgent Care opens

OMAHA, Neb. — When you slip and fall after work or the baby gets sick in the middle of the night many families wait to seek medical care instead of going to the expense of a trip to the emergency room. Now there is a safety net for those times, when you don’t think it’s an emergency – but you know you can’t wait.

Alegent Health AfterOurs Urgent Care at 14450 Eagle Run Drive in Omaha opens after the doctor’s offices close so when you need help late at night, over the weekends or on holidays, there is a place you can go besides the emergency room. The new clinic offers the same high-quality care you expect from Alegent Health without the added cost that you incur at any hospital.

“Accidents that require emergency care but not a trip to the Emergency Department don’t always happen between hours the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Alegent Health AfterOurs Urgent Care allows consumers to receive excellent primary care services during hours physician offices are typically closed. Doctors then refer patients back to their physician for follow-up care,” said Chris Rehm, executive director for Alegent Health AfterOurs Urgent Care.

Patients can be treated for a wide variety of problems ranging from the simple to the moderately complex including: sports injuries, colds and flu, sprains and strains, strep throat, headaches, minor infections and non-life threatening cuts requiring stitches. No appointment is necessary and co-pays will average less than half of those typically found at area Emergency Departments., and major insurance, Medicaid, Medicare and Workers’ Compensation are also accepted.

Fred Hosler, M.D., MPA, senior vice president and chief medical officer of Alegent Health, adds, “Alegent Health AfterOurs Urgent Care relieves pressure on already overcrowded hospital emergency departments (ED), enabling ED’s to be available to handle the more serious cases—the primary reason they exist.”

During the weekdays, AfterOurs physicians will be available to treat patients from 5 p.m. to Midnight and from 8 a.m. to Midnight on weekends and holidays.
