Mercy Hospital Executive Earns Credential in Leading Health Care Society

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa—Alegent Health Mercy Hospital is pleased to announced that Michael J. Tiesi, FACHE, RP, operations director of Pharmacy; recently became a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the nation’s leading professional society for health care leaders.

“Mr. Tiesi’s achievement reflects his commitment as a health care leader to both patients and the communities we serve,” said Marie Knedler, vice president and chief operating officer at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital. “This distinction also speaks to Alegent Health’s Mission of putting patients at the center of their care and providing them the highest-quality care possible.”

Fellow status represents achievement of the highest standard of professional development. There are only 7,500 health care executives who hold this distinction. To obtain Fellow status, candidates must fulfill multiple requirements; including passing a comprehensive examination, meeting academic and experiential criteria, earning continuing education credits and demonstrating professional/community involvement. Fellows are also committed to ongoing professional development and undergo recertification every three years.

The American College of Healthcare Executives is an international professional society of more than 30,000 healthcare executives who lead our nation’s hospitals, health care systems and other health care organizations. ACHE is known for its prestigious credentialing and educational programs and its annual Congress on Healthcare Leadership, which draws more than 4,000 participants each year.

Mr. Tiesi has more than 25 years experience in the health care industry. He received his bachelor of science in Pharmacy from Creighton University in 1981 and has held his current position at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital since 2005.
