OMAHA, Neb. – Alegent Health has a new member of its Executive Leadership Council. Amy Protexter, former vice president of Marketing and Communications joins the group as Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing and Communications Officer. The new position signals a promotion for Protexter who has been with Alegent Health for seven years. “Amy is an outstanding communicator who has elevated Alegent Health in the local, regional and national spotlight,” said CEO Wayne Sensor, who announced the promotion last week. “She is a dynamic leader who is well suited to help determine the direction of this health system.” Protexter came to Alegent Health from Mutual of Omaha. Her job – to build a corporate communications department. Her goal then, as it is now, is to engage, empower and excite internal and external audiences with the Alegent Health story. “I am fortunate that I get to work for an organization I truly believe in," said Protexter. “Alegent Health is a forward-thinking, national leader in health care and I’m proud to be a part of it.” Five months ago, Protexter, added leadership of the Alegent Health Marketing Department to her role as Vice President of Corporate Communications. Her most recent promotion finds her leading two additional divisions: ehealth, Alegent Health’s online marketing team and public affairs/government relations. “Bringing these teams together makes perfect sense in terms of where we are headed and how we can best help our patients and our community,” said Protexter. That new team came together in a big way last week when Alegent Health CEO Wayne Sensor was asked to testify before the U.S. House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Health in Washington D.C. As the hearing’s lone proponent of Health Savings Accounts and Consumer Driven Health Care, Sensor told the Alegent Health success story. A native of Kansas City, Protexter is a graduate of Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Accomplishments aside, Amy says she is most proud of her family - husband Bill, and sons, Bennett and Taylor.
