Alegent Health and the O! Public Art Project raises $29,000 to support of behavioral health.

OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha’s Unique symbol that’s attracted O! so much attention has gone to the highest bidder. Nearly two years after the O! Public Art Project was first announced, all 22 of the O!s have found a permanent home and proceeds raised will go to support adults who are uninsured or underinsured and in need of mental health services in our community.

Proceeds from both the online and live auction have raised more than $33,500. Of that total amount, $29,000 will benefit the Behavioral Health Support Foundation and $200 each will be given to all 24 artists involved in the project.

The Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce purchased Bart Vargas’ “O” and will continue to manage its appearances at events around Omaha.

Alegent Health plans to donate ”sO!fa” by Leslie Iwai, “They Were Sacred to Astarte” by Joey Lynch and Eddie Dominquez’s “O! On Fire” to public places and organizations that have expressed interest in owning one of the public art pieces.

Alegent Health is the sole sponsor of the project partnering with the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce, the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts and Omaha's O! Campaign to make the O! Public Art Project a reality. The O! Public Art Project unites art, health and community spirit to beautify and celebrate the Omaha community.

O! Campaign Over the past four years, the O! symbol has proven to be a strong visual image for Omaha community leaders, businesses, organizations, residents and visitors.
