MEMPHIS, Tenn.—Through an interactive website that includes video and podcasts, Alegent Health is taking steps in advancing eHealth and innovation among consumers. That’s why the organization is among the 2008 recipients of MEDSEEK’s eHealth Excellence Award. Each year, MEDSEEK recognizes the efforts of companies and individual contributors to advancements in eHealth – organizations that have made a significant difference in the way health care information is exchanged to improve the lives of people and the communities in which they live. MEDSEEK presented the award to Alegent Health during the opening night ceremony for their 8th annual eHealth Client Congress. Jackie Goss, operations director of eHealth Marketing accepted the award on Alegent Health’s behalf. “As our partner, MEDSEEK has been integral to helping us provide innovative solutions and strategies, such as My Cost – our first of its kind, patent-pending online cost estimating tool – as we continue to mark milestones on our journey into transparency.” From publicly reporting quality scores to providing personally relevant cost estimates for common treatments and procedures, Alegent Health is putting industry-leading technology and solutions into practice every day. “Our eHealth initiatives are an important strategy in our efforts to invite consumer behaviors into health care. At Alegent Health we believe that by giving consumers the right tools and incentives, people can and do make informed health care decisions that improve their health and lower costs,” said Wayne Sensor, chief executive officer for Alegent Health.
