Alegent Health Creates Public Affairs Role and Taps Proven Leader for Success

OMAHA, Neb. —Alegent Health announces the addition of Pete Festersen as vice president of Public Affairs to further enhance the organization’s journey toward achieving world-class leadership in health care locally, regionally and nationally.

In this newly created position, Pete will work closely with executive leadership to oversee advocacy issues for Alegent Health, create public affairs strategy and integrate Alegent Health and our management team into public boards, commissions and panels.

Prior to joining Alegent Health, Pete maintained a similar role with the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce, where he has been the primary liaison with the Nebraska congressional delegation, Governor, State Legislature, Mayor, City Council, County Board and various interest groups. His direct involvement in more than 50 major pieces of legislation helped create the next generation of economic development legislation called the Nebraska Advantage Act, over $500 million in tax cuts, including the largest single tax cut in the history of the State of Nebraska, and more than $26 million in new transportation funding.

Pete has also served as Deputy Chief of Staff to Mayor Mike Fahey and worked as a staff associate at the Peter Kiewit Foundation. He received Bachelor of Arts from Connecticut College and a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Nebraska in Omaha. Pete is currently chairman of the Omaha Planning Board.
