Alegent Health and the O! Public Art Project announce online auction for 22 artistically-designed O!s
OMAHA, Neb. – Whether living, working or visiting Omaha, no doubt you’ve watched them pop up on street corners and parks, the O!’s that celebrate Omaha. Nearly two years after the O! Public Art Project was first announced, it’s time to find the O!s a permanent home.
Beginning April 10 at 5 p.m. CDT the public can go to Alegent.com/oauction where an online auction site has been created. The site features 15 of the O!s available to purchase, with starting bids ranging from $2,000-4,000. To place a bid, those interested need to register and must be at least 18-years-old, have a valid email address and enter their current contact information. Bids will be accepted online through Sun., May 4 at 5 p.m. CDT.
The remaining six O!s will be auctioned off live at a celebration taking place May 1st. The Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce has purchased the Traveling O! and will manage its appearances at events around town.
Proceeds from both auctions will go to the Behavioral Health Support Foundation to support adults who are uninsured or underinsured and in need of mental health care. A portion will also go back to the artists involved in the project.
Alegent Health is the sole sponsor of the project partnering with the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce, the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts and Omaha's O! Campaign to make the O! Public Art Project a reality. The O! Public Art Project unites art, health and community spirit to beautify and celebrate the Omaha community.
Over the past four years, the O! symbol has proven to be a strong visual image for Omaha community leaders, businesses, organizations, residents and visitors. Countless examples of usage proves that this simple red O! is overwhelmingly embraced and adopted by the Greater Omaha community, symbolizing the momentum and growth the region is currently experiencing. The symbol has been incorporated into upscale business and marketing efforts and campaigns, festivals, city-wide events and celebrations and merchandising endeavors. For more information about the O! Campaign, visit our Web site at www.ososuprising.com.
