LINCOLN, Neb.— Alegent Health is O! so elated to have received the Business Leadership Award for sponsorship of the O! Public Art Project. The award was given at the Governor's Arts Awards recently held in Lincoln. The Governor's Arts Awards — sponsored by the Nebraska Arts Council – honor dedicated artists and arts advocates in the region.
The O! Public Art Project is an interactive and uniquely distinctive community art project that joins art, health and community spirit to beautify and celebrate Omaha featuring Omaha's official O! symbol. The project is a collection of 22 six-foot-tall, three-dimensional sculptures artistically designed by 24 commissioned area artists including sculptors, painters, screen printers, weavers and glass artists. Alegent Health is the sole sponsor of the project partnering with the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce, the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts and Omaha's O! Campaign.

Alegent Health joins the following list of recipients to receive the 2008 Governor’s Art Awards including:
ARTIST OF THE YEAR: Michael James, textile artist and Ardis James Professor at UNL, Lincoln; and Arthur Pierce, calligrapher, from Kearney.
EXCELLENCE IN ARTS EDUCATION: Robert Hillestad, Ph.D., fiber artist and Professor Emeritus, UNL, Lincoln; and Rita Stinner, Director of Choral Activities, Western Nebraska Community College, Scottsbluff.
HERITAGE ARTS AWARD: Museum of the Fur Trade, Chadron.
ORGANIZATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARD: Art Farm, Marquette; and Lied Center for Performing Arts, Lincoln.
THOMAS C. WOODS III PARTNER IN THE ARTS: Merle Stalder, Falls City.
