Omaha, Neb.- Alegent Health announces the creation of a corporate office in Omaha to exercise financial stewardship, strengthen services and free up valuable space among the health care organization’s five metro hospitals. The facility will consolidate several support functions, at the same time paying tribute to our sponsors - Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Immanuel Health Systems (IHS) - and the legacy of their healing ministry they have entrusted the organization to carry on. The McAuley Center located at 128th and Dodge is named in honor of Sister Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Sisters of Mercy and a pioneer in faith-based health care in the United States.

“The ministry passed on to us by Catholic Health Initiatives and Immanuel Health Systems is the foundation of everything we do at Alegent Health,” said CEO Wayne Sensor. “Without the compassion and vision of leaders like Sister Catherine McAuley, we would not be here today to continue the legacy of faith-based health care for our patients and community.”

Sensor and other members of the executive leadership council will be among the first departments that will be moving into The McAuley Center. Additional non-clinical staff will be moving to the new location in phases and include: the Alegent Health Foundation; Mission Services; medical staff services; Center for Nursing Excellence; quality; research; financial services, including accounts payable, accounting, payroll and analysis; planning and ambulatory retail development; construction services; property and risk management; legal and compliance services; corporate communications; marketing; and the Alegent Health Clinic administrative services.

Alegent Health is purchasing The McAuley Center for just over $13 million and is in the preliminary stages of examining a second potential location to further consolidate services. The creation of The McAuley Center will help to efficiently merge corporate services to continue the legacy of patient care our sponsors have begun in an even more effective manner. Prior to this, these support services were housed at various leased buildings and office spaces spread throughout the Omaha area.

Alegent Health is the largest not-for-profit, faith-based health care system in Nebraska and southwestern Iowa with nine acute care hospitals, more than 100 sites of service, over 1,300 physicians on its medical staff and more than 8,600 employees. Alegent Health is making health care better with an exceptional commitment to quality and by providing patient-focused care for the body, mind and spirit of every person consistent with its faith-based mission. Alegent Health continues the health ministry begun by its sponsors, Catholic Health Initiatives and Immanuel Health Systems, more than a hundred years ago. At Alegent Health, patients and their families find a continuum of care, from women's and children's services, primary care, well-ness counseling, and senior care to cardiovascular services, orthopaedics, oncology, physical rehabilitation, home care and behavioral health.
