Alegent Health Looks within Family for Leader of Immanuel Medical Center

Extensive, nation-wide search for medical center’s chief operating officer finds effective leader within Alegent Health family. OMAHA, Neb.—Alegent Health is pleased to announce an extensive national search results in naming Ann Schumacher as vice president and chief operating officer of Immanuel Medical Center, a position she has been providing leadership for since 2005. “Ann’s selection as the new vice president and chief operating officer of Immanuel Medical Center sends a strong message that it is a new and vibrant day for one of Alegent Health’s two flagship hospitals,” said Richard Hachten, II, president of Alegent Health. Schumacher has been part of the Alegent Health family since 1991, when she joined the organization as a clinical coordinator of Adult Psychiatric Services at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. During her tenure at Alegent Health, she spent many of her years in the care of our behavioral health patients, ultimately serving as the operations leader of the Behavioral Health Service. In 2005, she transitioned into service at Immanuel Medical Center, serving as a key member of the leadership team and ultimately providing interim leadership after the departure of former VP and Chief Operating Officer Barb Goodrich. “Ann’s incredible talent and her leadership style that builds partnerships and strong, collaborative teams will ensure that the coming years for Immanuel will be ones of change, growth and renewal.
