OMAHA, Neb. – Alegent Health is dedicated to improving the health and wellness of the community including Nebraska’s active youth. That commitment is a big reason that Alegent Health Sports Medicine is partnering with the Omaha Crusaders youth basketball program for the current season. As a result of this partnership, the basketball program has been renamed the Alegent Health Crusaders.

Alegent Health’s sponsorship of the program includes the dedication, expertise and availability of certified athletic trainers, physical therapists and physicians. If a player is injured, the on-site athletic trainer will provide medical assistance or access the appropriate care throughout the Alegent Health system. Alegent Health will also cover the expense of athletic training supplies for any practice or event held by the Alegent Health Crusaders.

“This partnership means that those involved within the Crusaders’ organization can concentrate on what we must do – coach and teach,” said Doug Woodard, director of the Alegent Health Crusaders Basketball program. “There is also a tremendous benefit to having medical care available during all tournaments for our teams.”

Omaha Crusaders is a non-profit, youth basketball program founded in 1992 and has recently been renamed Alegent Health Crusaders as a result of the partnership. The select program is made up of seven teams broken down by age with elite players from across the state who must try out before being named to a team. Current or former certified Nebraska high school coaches run the program. All coaches, directors and support personnel work on a voluntary basis.

The Crusaders youth basketball program is proud to announce its partnership with Alegent Health as well as the seven teams for their 2007 summer season.
