COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa— Ameristar Casino Hotel Team Members will present a $121,174 donation to the Alegent Health Foundation on behalf of the Immanuel Rehabilitation Center. The generous gift will be presented on Friday, March 24, 2007 at the rehab center and will be used to benefit patients with spinal cord injuries. A portion of the gift came from the private foundation of Ameristar’s former Chairman and CEO, the late Craig H. Neilsen. The foundation’s mission is to support organizations like the Immanuel Rehabilitation Center that seek to provide comprehensive and innovate programs which help make a huge impact in their patient’s lives.

The gift will be used to purchase equipment that will aid in the treatment of patients with spinal cord injuries as well as educational resources for staff development. In the past, the funds have gone towards the purchase of a new van for the rehab center, a driving simulator with hand controls, electric and manual wheelchairs, bathroom safety equipment to allow for independent self-care and a revolutionary electrical stimulation device to help stroke victims regain motion in their hands and wrists.

In honor of the Ameristar Team Members who helped make the gift possible, staff of the Alegent Health Foundation and Immanuel Rehabilitation Center will host a reception between noon and 1:30 p.m. following the formal check presentation. Teresa Meyer, general manager of Ameristar Casino Hotel in Council Bluffs, will be presenting the check to Jill Powers, operations leader of Rehabilitation Services at Alegent Health Immanuel Medical Center. Ameristar and Alegent Health employees, as well as patients and their families are invited to attend the event.

Ameristar team members made contributions through the 2006 Ameristar Cares Workplace Giving Campaign, which Ameristar Casinos, Inc., matched. The Craig H. Neilsen Foundation also matched all contributions to the Immanuel Rehabilitation Center and contributed an additional $40,000.
