McCormick named Alegent Health Lakeside Hospital Campus Medical Director, Quality Officer

OMAHA, Neb. - Jayne McCormick, M.D. has been named Alegent Health Lakeside Hospital Campus Medical Director and Quality Officer. In this capacity, Dr. McCormick will have the overall responsibility for management of various medical-related activities regarding quality improvement and clinical resource management at the hospital. She will also serve as the medical staff liaison and administrative coordinator.

Dr. McCormick began her medical career as a nurse in a critical care/burn unit in Rochester, New York. She then completed medical school at Albany Medical School and her surgical residency at Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine. After completing her residency, Dr. McCormick accepted a professorship at the Eastern Virginia School of Medicine where she taught subjects involving trauma, general surgery and resident education. In 1995, Dr. McCormick moved to Omaha and began practicing as a general surgeon.

Over the past few years, Dr. McCormick has been extensively involved in medical staff leadership, most recently serving as vice-chief of staff at Alegent Health Immanuel Medical Center. Since 2004, Dr. McCormick has also served as Medical Director for Alegent Health Hospice.

It is the intent of the Alegent Health Board of Directors to have a physician serve as Campus Medical Director and Quality Officer at each metro campus. Alegent Health Lakeside Hospital is the third campus within the system to incorporate this new position. Jeffry Strohmyer, M.D., holds the position at Midlands Hospital and Joseph Hoagbin, M.D. at Mercy Hospital.
