National Governors Association Invites CEO Wayne Sensor to Serve on State Alliance for e-Health Initiative
Omaha, Neb. — Alegent Health CEO Wayne A. Sensor has been invited by the National Governors Association (NGA) to serve as an advisory, non-voting member of the State Alliance for e-Health. The State Alliance will serve as the central voice for state-level issues in the Health IT arena and is made up of executive-level state elected and appointed officials who will collectively address the unique challenges and opportunities for states on the path towards interoperable electronic health information exchange.
“This appointment allows Alegent Health an unprecedented opportunity to be a voice in the advancement and creation of a nationwide network for the exchange and sharing of health information, advancing patient safety and quality and fostering cost-effective care,” said Sensor.
The NGA Center for Best Practices created the State Alliance in 2006 to improve the nation’s health care system through the formation of a collaborative body that enables states to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the health information technology (HIT) initiatives they develop. Through this initiative, stakeholders will work together to identify inter- and intrastate-based HIT policies and best practices and explore solutions to programmatic and legal issues related to the exchange of health information. Specifically the State Alliance will enable states to:
Identify, assess and map ways to resolve state-level health IT issues that affect multiple states and pose challenges to interoperable electronic health information exchange
Increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the health IT initiatives through collaboration
Resolve privacy and security issues surrounding the use and disclosure of electronic health information
Learn from and leverage national efforts and resources to achieve interoperable health information exchange
